TUCSON NOW: Southern AZ girls soccer team needs your help
The number one ranked U12 girls soccer team in the entire country, just happens to be from right here in the Old Pueblo. GotSport Rankings This hardworking group of young ladies recently won Arizona’s annual State Cup and will now be headed off to Boise, Idaho to compete in the Far West Regional Championships. The girls are the only team from Tucson to lift the State Cup this year and they did so in a convincing fashion. Going undefeated, the ladies beat the best teams out of Phoenix by scoring 16 times and only giving up 2 goals, over 6 hard fought matches. The team is made up of athletes from across Southern Arizona with players coming from Sierra Vista, Sahuarita, Oro Valley and of course Tucson. RSL Southern Arizona soccer club and all of our local community partners are very proud to support such a great group of athletes, parents and coaches.
“I have been coaching for many years, and this team has a unique combination of work ethic and joy that they bring to every training session and game. That team spirit helps them improve and grow daily but it also makes them a very difficult group to beat,” said Matthew Flores, the team’s head coach. With the trip to Boise coming up quick, the team could use your help. The regional championship taking place over the week of June 13th-17th the girls could use your support in getting there.
