RSL-AZ Southern Arizona families:


There is still so much uncertainty surrounding when we can start the 2020/2021 soccer season. While things seem to be changing rapidly and largely out of our control, we trust that some sense of normalcy will soon return. One thing that won’t change is that we are committed to you, our soccer family, and this community and the continued growth and success of the players you entrust to us.

As you are all aware, Club tryouts are usually in early May and involve the congregation of multiple age groups of players, coaches, officials, and parents. In following with clear guidelines of the medical and scientific communities, we feel this would put unnecessary risk on the safety and health of our players and this community. We will be making changes this year to the tryout process for current RSL Southern AZ players in an effort to make this time stress free for our families and provide the highest level of safety.

RSL Southern AZ is offering all of our returning players the opportunity to accept a roster spot without the need for a tryout. We hope this gives you peace of mind and allows you to focus on your family’s safety and health. If you are offered a spot and accept, your roster position will be secure regardless of whether we are able to conduct traditional tryouts later this summer. We have a player evaluation system within our club that when coupled with a coach and director assessment, assists us by correctly identifying the appropriate level and environment for each player. This will be even more important this year due to the disruption of this season and the traditional tryout process that assists us in forming teams for the
upcoming season. The next steps you can expect from this process are as follows.

• All players from the 2019/2020 season will receive an offer for a specific team for the upcoming season in the coming weeks, we will work closely with our coaches to roll this out as quickly and accurately as possible. This offer will be based on their performance in training and matches during the 2019/2020 season.

• Players will receive an offer for an age group whose specific rosters will be determined prior to the start of
next season.
• When you receive your offer, we encourage that you accept it promptly to assist us with team formation
and planning.

We value each and every one of our players, families, and coaches. We couldn’t be prouder of what we achieved together this past season and look forward with hope to what next season has to offer. We can’t wait to get back on the field and to provide a growth platform for these players.
