This week marks the 51st anniversary of Fort Lowel

This week marks the 51st anniversary of Fort Lowell Soccer Club, a proud tradition that lives on today through RSL AZ Southern. What began over five decades ago has grown into one of the strongest soccer communities in the region, and we are honored to carry that legacy forward.

From the very first day, one name has stood as a pillar of passion and dedication: Detlef Lange. As one of the founding fathers of Fort Lowell Soccer Club, Detlef remains the only original coach still actively coaching youth soccer today. His unwavering commitment to the game and to the players of Southern Arizona continues to inspire generation after generation.

Our story is deeply rooted in the foundation of youth soccer in Tucson. Aztec Soccer Club, Fort Lowell Soccer Club, and Palo Verde Soccer Club came together as the original founding members of PCJSL. Back then, the league had fewer than 300 kids. Today, it has grown to more than 6,000 players—a powerful reflection of the vision and dedication of those who built it and the families who kept it thriving.

Here’s to 51 years of history, growth, and passion—and to the bright future of RSL AZ Southern, proudly carrying the Fort Lowell legacy into the years ahead.
